2017 Wrap Up (Part 1 of 4)

Booking Music in Houston and Beyond, 2017 – Pt. 1

Looking back on 2017 has been the most fun project. To see all the diverse and renowned musical acts that we brought to Houston and across the country for our dear clients makes us beyond proud.

We had a hard time picking and choosing our favorite events, so we have broken up the year end wrap-up into four posts, one for each quarter. Thanks to our amazing clients and friendors, we had a banner year, and so much fun along the way. Take a look back at the beginning of the year with us!

Editor’s Note: this is only a small selection of our favorite events, so if yours is not featured, know that it is due only to a lack of time to post them all! If you would like to be featured in a future post, please write to annie@www.gulfcoastentertainment.com.

Diana Ross – Astros Foundation Diamond Dreams Gala

What a thrill to have Ms. Ross in town with us for the Astros Foundation Diamond Dreams Gala. Photo Cred: Amber Elliott, Houston Chronicle

Months of planning and careful orchestration by our team and the Astros made for a perfect event.

Just a few hours prior…the morning of the big show. The stage is coming together!

Cords on cords on cords. Production for Minute Maid Park is not dainty.

Getting Ms. Ross to the stage without being seen by the crowd necessitated some creativity. The above photo is of a golf cart, with table cloths attached by duct tape! Shh…don’t tell.

Grupo Fantasma at Levy Park

We were honored to help Levy Park officially open its doors to neighbors and all Houstonians with a family-friendly concert at its Grand Opening. What a blast we had dancing past sunset to the Latin funk musical collaborative, Grupo Fantasma, in one of our city’s most vibrant public spaces.

John Doe – private 49.5 birthday party

John Doe at Walter’s Downtown for a private birthday bash.

One of the most fun phone calls we got all year was from a friend who said he didn’t want to ring in his 5th decade without a great party. He took care of the top shelf tequila, and we set out to help identify the best artist for his 49 1/2th birthday party. He landed on John Doe, formerly of X, who performed at his bash at Walters Downtown.

Houston Ballet Ball – Party on the Moon

The quarter end would not have been the same without a performance by one of our favorite party bands, the Jordan Kahn Orchestra. Jordan performed at the fabulous Stages gala, chaired by dear friends and clients, who had attended the GCE showcase for Jordan Kahn just months prior at House of Blues Houston.

Whew! Can’t believe that was only three months’ worth. Back with Part Deux tomorrow!

Annie
