GCE Wedding Spotlight: Sydney & Ryan

Sydney and Ryan met at SMU, naturally, as they were both heading for big careers in the medical field. After SMU, Sydney received her masters in nursing from Vanderbilt University and works as a certified pulmonary transplant nurse practitioner, and Ryan is a board-certified anesthesiologist. After years of school, studying and dating, these to were ready to wed and ready to PARTY! They decided on a June wedding in Houston and chose an amazing team of wedding vendors for their big day, lead by the great Mallory Ferreira of Two Be Wed.  Music being very important to both the bride and groom, we worked through their vision of a big band with a powerhouse horn section, high energy dancing and a large repertoire of music to cover all the artists and genres they love.

Sydney and Ryan were married at St. Paul’s Methodist and then guests made their way to the Hobby Center, where they were greeted in the lobby with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and contemporary Pop tunes by the Divisi Strings Amp’d Quartet.  Some of the music they chose for the strings included songs by The Beatles,  Led Zeppelin , Oasis, Adele and The Rolling Stones.

The gorgeous Grand Lobby at Hobby Center,  designed by A Memorable Event. Sydney wanted a traditional, elegant, black-tie affair with tons of color!  The band had their stage setup against the window wall with an incredible view of downtown Houston!

After a jazzy dinner set,  the dance floor was in full force.   Sydney and Ryan chose the amazing Downtown Fever, a Dallas-based high energy party band with 11 incredible musicians on stage.  Drums, bass, guitar, 3 horns, 2 male and 3 female vocalists make up this dynamic group with interactive choreography and lighting.

Jammin!

A sing along with the newlyweds

No air guitar here, 100 % LIVE!

A balloon drop, shutter shades and glow sticks topped off the end of the night, along with the most “Texan” of traditions, late night Whataburger! We loved working with this smart, creative and music savvy couple and their amazing group of vendors! Sometimes great music is just what the doctor orders.

Cheers!
