Before starting his band, Keyun & the Zydeco Masters, in 2003, Keyun’s passion for Zydeco began at three years old in Humble, TX when he first picked up the accordion. Since the creation of the band, they have been commonly sought-after artists and rising stars in the Gulf Coast. One of his best qualities is his style and technique of playing his “squeeze box.” His most intriguing attribute, however, is his unique ability to play behind his back, adding style and personality to every performance.

Being crowned the “Accordion King” by Texas Folklife in 2010 is among his many accolades, alongside recognition by news and radio outlets throughout the south. Keyun’s long-standing Annual Fat Tuesday Performance on the Great Day Houston Show with Deborah Duncan is a highlight of the season.

A family man, Keyun is managed by his wife of nine years, MeL. Their combined commitment to live music keeps Keyun & the Zydeco Masters booked at festivals, wedding receptions, company crawfish boils, church bazaars, private parties, local venues, and anywhere that Zydeco can be performed live.
