Corporate event planning has a reputation problem: too many events feel like… corporate events. The food is fine. The venue is nice. The DJ plays the same playlist. And by 9pm, everyone’s thinking about getting home.

The right entertainment changes all of that. Here are 12 ideas that genuinely work – from our decades of booking entertainment for companies across the country who wanted something more memorable.

1. A High-Energy Cover Band (Done Right)

A great live band is still the gold standard for corporate entertainment – but ‘great’ is the key word. The difference between a good band and an unforgettable band is a tight setlist calibrated to your audience, a front person who can work a corporate crowd, and production that fills the room. This is our most common request, and it works every time when matched correctly.

2. A Motivational Speaker Who Opens the Evening

Starting your gala or awards banquet with a 20-minute speaker who ties into your company theme can set an emotional tone that carries through the entire night. It doesn’t have to be a celebrity – the right regional speaker at the right moment can be the most talked-about part of the evening.

3. Dueling Pianos

Two pianists face off – taking song requests, trading barbs, and playing off the audience’s energy. It’s interactive, hilarious, and works remarkably well for corporate crowds of 100–500.

4. A New Orleans Second Line

A jazz brass band leads guests from cocktail hour to the main event, or from dinner to the after-party. Inspired by the New Orleans tradition, this idea travels beautifully – even guests who’ve never been to New Orleans are instantly transported. It’s joyful, energetic, and photographs beautifully.

5. A Corporate Comedian

A polished corporate comedian – one who’s genuinely funny AND knows how to keep it appropriate – is hard to find, but when you find one, it’s a highlight reel moment. We vet our comedians specifically for corporate rooms.

6. A Jazz Ensemble for the Cocktail Hour

First impressions matter. A live jazz trio or quartet in the cocktail hour immediately signals that this is a special event – and gives guests something to experience rather than just stand around with their drinks.

7. A Tribute Act Your Audience Will Lose Their Minds Over

A tribute to Fleetwood Mac. A spot-on Elvis. A Michael Jackson experience. When the tribute act is truly excellent, it creates genuine surprise and delight – and gives your event a headliner narrative (‘We’re having a Rolling Stones tribute band!’) that builds anticipation beforehand.

8. A Keynote Speaker + Band Combination

Open with an inspiring speaker during dinner, then transition to a live band for the after-party. It gives your event a clear narrative arc – from inspiration to celebration.

9. Interactive Entertainment at Cocktail Hour

Caricature artists, close-up magicians, or a roving musician can transform a cocktail hour from ‘standing around waiting for dinner’ into an experience guests are actively engaged in.

10. A Silent Disco

Guests wear wireless headphones and choose between two or three DJ channels playing different genres simultaneously. It looks bizarre, it’s incredibly fun, and it’s a conversation starter before it even starts.

11. A Live Painter

A professional artist paints a large canvas live during the event – capturing the room, the guests, the energy. The painting is auctioned off, donated, or presented as a gift. Perfect for fundraisers and milestone events.

12. The After-Party Band

If your event has a formal program followed by open socializing, consider bringing in a different act for the after-party. The shift in energy – from a jazz band during dinner to a high-energy cover band after midnight – gives your evening two acts and two distinct moments.
