In a career than spans almost 50 years, Deacon John has endured as one of New Orleans' most talented and most musically adaptive performers. A war horse and model showman, Deacon John has entertained three generations of New Orleanians playing classic rhythm and blues, rock and roll, British rock, pop, soul, disco, jazz, gospel and blues. With such a diverse repertory Deke makes his living playing society dances and private parties, but has also performed at every New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival since 1970 and his sets are legendary. A great guitar player, Deke is easily on par with Snooks Eaglin and Earl King, and his vocal abilities put him in the same league as Johnny Adams and Aaron Neville.
