Jazz and Swing

There are many types of jazz but it’s almost always easy to listen to, with an unpretentious, spontaneous feeling, and a wide range of emotion. We have included in this category groups (both instrumental and vocal)who can play New Orleans traditional jazz, ragtime, Dixieland, Swing-era, cool-jazz, smooth-jazz and latin jazz.

Swingfield Playboys

The Swingfield Playboys are an amalgamation of some of Houston’s best musicians with a collective performing experience of well over a century.  The groupplays urban swing with a western flavor, not specifically western swing, although a steel guitar, guitars, and mandolin are prominent in their seven-piece presentation.  "Martini and Western" might describe the Swingfield Playboys but not completely,as they will go from Aint Misbehving’ to I Love Paris to a jump blues song quicker than Fats Waller could chug a pint of bourbon. Whatever swings, they brings.
