Big Bands and Orchestras can be as small as 8pc and as large as 28, but will usually play behind music stands and play arrangements of the great Big Band leaders like Duke Ellington, Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey, plus a variety of more current material.

New York society band leader/pianist/ vocalist Michael Carney describes his music as "dancing jazz". He has assembled a repertory over the last 40 years which includes Broadway show tunes, bossa novas and sambas, pop and rock from the 50’s to the 90’s and contemporary songs - all delivered in a highly danceable style. Carney has played and is still playing the most elegant parties, galas and balls from New York to the Bahamas and from Houston to San Francisco.
